Venus_Cat_Roars This cat knows how to handle his fans with grace and aplomb. The little one also doing really well. 10 out of 10 interaction.

diadmer My cat would be three zip codes away before the kid could finish asking, "what this cat name?" She doesn't even let us pet her 9 days out of 10.

ApplicationHour It's amazing how patient he is with that adorable little girl and how good and gentle she is with the cat.

Of course, when I imagine my CDS issued kitty in the scenario it doesn't go like that. It ends with me, the toddler, the mom, and any bystanders clawed to ribbons as I'm apologizing profusely to everyone involved. I feel like my

barely 1-year-old, barely domesticated, CDS issued, half feral kitty cat would tolerate any one component of that interaction for about 1.7 seconds before solving the dilemma with her lil' razor-sharp fishhooks.
  • 20
Reasonable_Break7702 That cat demonstrates perfect zero fs given.
  • 21
Tobikage1990 It looks like the cat already got one ear ripped off somehow, I doubt anything would faze it at this point.

wickeddradon We had a black cat who was this chill. He loved kids and would actively plop himself down in front of wee kids and let them poke and stroke him. He would get up and move away if they got too rough but he would always go back.

Ok-Huckleberry-6326 I think watching this was good for my health. :)
  • 24
sdjacaranda Me too! I'm getting ready to start what I fully expect to be a terrible day and now I'm going into it with a smile. What an adorable interaction.

Fabulous_Function666 Some cats understand children and are extra tolerant. When I was a baby we had a tom cat who hated humans, except for me. I would often pull his whiskers or tail and he just put up with it. I would have definitely told the kid to not do that though

SeaTie Our cat used to lie on the floor and let our toddler grab her belly. She just did absolutely nothing! I kept saying “Cat! Why don't you go up on the couch or go upstairs??" Nope. Continued to lie in the middle of the floor and let the baby man-handle her belly.
  • 28
We would tell our toddler all the time "Pet her head, not her belly." But the cat would willingly lay there for the kid to grab her.

We got a new dog a few years ago who's the same with small children. Just endless patience. Endless availability for them to pet him and hug him and touch his feet. Some animals are just saints with little kids.

tidalwaveofstars My stepdaughter used to face plant right on my cats stomach all the friggin time when she was about 3 years old and I waited for the day the cat would reach her limit. Never a hiss or a scratch. Couldn't believe it.
  • 31
CenturyEggsAndRice Yeah, my first cat would endure ANYTHING from me. He liked my parents ok, hated everyone else, but for me? He had endless patience and sought out my loving abuses.
  • 32
I could drag him around under his armpits with his body dragging the floor, kiss his face, rub his belly (and plant my face into it/use him as a pillow to watch tv) and even dress him in doll clothes and push him around in a plastic baby carriage. He'd purr happily for it all. My mom
  • 33
would try to 'save' him, and he would run right back to me and occasionally hiss at her if she saved him too often. (He never scratched or bit Mom, but he'd put his ears back and show his teeth)
  • 34
Meanwhile my parents despaired that their toddler was "so rough" with cats. A relative ded and left behind her elderly long haired cat (I think she was a Persian, but I never confirmed that, I just remember her having SO much fluff and a smushy face) to my folks and they were bemoaning this to my great aunt, that they might have to have Duchess put down because "She's not patient like Pie is, she'll end up hurting Eggy!"
  • 35
Great Aunt was horrified and pointed out that her cats were no more friendly than Duchess and I got along fine with them. Which was true, I was very gentle with her cats and they would climb in my lap and let me pet them while I sat on the gaudy a crochet afghan that covered Aunty's armchair. (I was left that blanket in her will and my grandmother stole it. Someday I'm gonna find some harvest gold and avocado colored yarn and make one of my own, but it still won't be as special as the original w
  • 36
She told them (paraphrased, I was like 3-4 years old and heard this story many times as I grew up) "Don't go making this into more than it is. Eggy treats Pie that way because he wants her to, she treats my cats gently because they want her to. Duchess will adjust and teach her how she likes to be loved, just keep an eye out."
  • 37
Duchess meanwhile did not like to be carried around (I think I tried once, she hissed and I let go immediately), but she did like for me to sit on the sofa beside her and stroke her head and tummy.
  • 38
She also liked to forcibly groom Pie, and grew tolerant of me putting her in a baby doll highchair (not like, with her legs through the holes or anything, I'd pat the chair and she would hop into it and sit) and spoon feeding her canned catfood like she was a baby. (Pie also
  • 39
liked to be spoonfed, but he'd wear a bonnet and a baby dress for the occasion.) She also was a guest at many tea parties in my bedroom and would sit on the little plastic chair. Pie never sat on the chairs, but I thought it was because he was a boy and didn't like tea parties. He just wanted to jump onto my little table and knock things off. xD
  • 40
She didn't like to be dressed up (I'm not sure I ever even tried tbh, my memories are vague but I remember telling my dad when he wanted to put reindeer antlers on her for a picture "Duchy doesn't like to wear clothes." so I think I knew better at least by then) but she liked to lay in bed with me and be held like a teddy bear when I slept. And I could read stories to her and she would close her eyes and purr through her open mouth.
  • 41
I also could brush her, which was good because no one else could and as I said, she had a LOT of hair. My cousin was/is a pet groomer and showed me how to brush her to make sure she didn't get mats and even as a preschooler I took that job VERY seriously. She got one little mat under an ear and I remember being absolutely beside myself about it because I FAILED MY KITTY! My cousin thought it was hilarious and
  • 42
comforted me that every long haired cat gets those, but she never got a second one, I brushed that area extra every night before bed for the rest of her life. Even after she started having her body shaved (because she couldn't clean herself) by my cousin, I still would brush her head and under her ears.
  • 43
And I don't remember her biting me a single time. She did scratch me at least once, but I was using a toy fishing pole to tease her (letting her and Pie chase the little plastic fish) and I think she just got too excited. I don't remember being afraid or upset by it, but I did want a bandaid.
  • 44
She and Pie were excellent cats. And as an adult, I am very good with cats which I think they deserve the credit for. (Along with Aunty's cats Thomasena, Mopsey and Benjamin. They were all tabby cats of various colors and probably the reason I still love tabbies.)
  • 45
Advanced-Average7822 my grumpy, elderly black cat would put up with anything from our toddler. I caught him dragging him across the wood floor by the tail lol.
  • 46
rjt2887 It always amazes me how much more tolerant and gentle Animals are towards kids, and this little girl was obviously very gentle with the cat as well, I always assume the opposite with kids.
  • 47
bolanrox we went to a dude ranch last summer that has a barn cat (who owns the place BTW) all the kids line up to pet him and pick him up. Will just meow his presence, and flop down in the lobby sitting area, or in the middle of the outdoor dining area. the Kids are all super gentle with him
  • 48
mysteriousleader45 Even as someone who can't stand people putting their kids on social media...this got me lol □
  • 49
overmonk Anytime a little kid is around a cat or dog, I am watching that cat or dog to see what their level of tolerance is. This is a good patient kitty.
